Mother’s will be specially recognized at First Baptist on May 9th. We will provide a silk carnation boutonniere to be worn to church to honor and celebrate our mothers. Every person (male and female) will be given a red carnation if your mother is living or a white carnation if your mother is deceased. Let’s renew the age-old tradition and celebrate our mothers! Look for our youth helping to give our carnations.
If you have a graduating senior in your family that you would like to be recognized on Sunday, May 23, during our Graduate Recognition service, please be sure to contact the church office by May 10. Each senior/family will need to fill out the Senior Spotlight form for our social media campaign that will precede our May 23 service, and submit up to 5 pictures. (One senior picture is all that is required.) This form can be filled out by college graduates too!

After a year’s hiatus due to covid, we are finalizing plans to have VBS this year! The excitement of seeing our children here in the summer learning about Jesus is a sight to behold. Quarantine and covid robbed us of so many of our normal routines, and we are ready to move forward! Our theme is “Concrete and Cranes, Building on the Love of Jesus”, which is the curriculum we had planned to use last year.
We are ready to fill the spots on our construction crew! All lead teacher roles have been filled. We still need volunteers! Whether you can teach a Bible Story, lead in arts and crafts, play during our rec time, sing and move with the kids, or serve as a classroom monitor, YOU are needed!! Give the church office a call and sign up to be a part of Concrete and Cranes: Building on the Love of Jesus!
The schedule is Sunday evening through Thursday evening, 5:00-8:00pm. We will serve supper from 5:00-5:30, move to the sanctuary for our opening and then the children will go to their classes. We are so excited about teaching the children in our community that “Building on the Love of Jesus” gives them the foundation that lasts. As they explore a world of concrete and cranes, rivets and rebar, bulldozers and backhoes, they will learn to build their faith on Jesus as they uncover the truth that He who began a good work will be faithful to carry it on to completion.
Christine Tanko continues to excel as the leader for our MOPS group. They have already outgrown their meeting area and have moved to the Youth Café. Check it out and bookmark it so you can keep up with this active ministry. Childcare is available for you at each meeting. Prices per family are $5.00 for the first child, $3.00 for the second, and $2.00 for the third with a cap of $10.00 per family. If you are a mom with preschoolers in your home, come join our MOPS group. Check the calendar or our new website at MOPS for the March meetings and make plans to be with us.
